  • UCAS, Higher Education and Life beyond Sixth Form.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

At The King’s Sixth Form, we are committed to ensuring every student is fully prepared for life beyond school, whether that means progressing to university, apprenticeships, or employment. Our support is tailored, practical, and designed to give students the confidence and skills to succeed.

The purpose of the enrichment and support programme is to make sure all of our students are prepared for the next step in their journey, whether that be higher education, an apprenticeship or employment. Throughout our programme, we aim to raise students' aspirations, challenge stereotypes and develop their knowledge of the world of work to make sure they have access to the very best opportunities.

    1. UCAS & University Applications

We guide students through every step of the university application process, including:

    • Understanding different courses and universities

    • Writing strong personal statements

    • Applying through UCAS and managing deadlines

    • Preparing for interviews and open days

    • Organising visits to universities to explore courses and campus life

Our dedicated staff provide one-to-one guidance to help students make informed choices and ensure their applications stand out.

    2. Career Guidance, Apprenticeships & Employment

Students receive tailored careers advice to explore different sectors and opportunities. Support includes:

    • One-to-one career mentoring

    • Guidance on apprenticeships, vocational pathways, and employment options

    • Arranging industry placements and work experience to gain real-world skills

    • CV writing, interview preparation, and job search workshops

This ensures students are confident and career-ready, whether they choose to enter employment directly, pursue an apprenticeship, or continue with higher education.

    3. Skills for Success

We focus on developing key employability skills:

    • Communication and teamwork

    • Leadership and problem-solving

    • Time management and organisation

    • Self-reflection and goal-setting

These skills are embedded into lessons, enrichment activities, and community projects to give students a well-rounded experience that prepares them for the future.

    4. Enrichment Opportunities

Our enrichment programme allows students to broaden their horizons and gain experience beyond the classroom:

    • Leadership roles such as Head Boy/Girl or student mentors

    • Community engagement, including volunteering and charity projects

    • Outdoor and adventure challenges to develop confidence and resilience

    • Subject-specific trips and workshops

These experiences help students stand out in applications and interviews and prepare them for life beyond Sixth Form.

    5. Ongoing Support

Throughout their time in Sixth Form, students have access to:

    • Personal tutors who monitor progress and offer guidance

    • Workshops on time management, independent study, and goal setting

    • Tailored advice for university, apprenticeships, and career choices

We ensure students leave The King’s Sixth Form ready to take the next step with confidence, whether that’s higher education, an apprenticeship, or employment.
