Transition to our Sixth Form
Starting Sixth Form is an exciting step in your educational journey, and at The King’s, we aim to make the transition as smooth and supportive as possible. We welcome students joining from Year 11, whether from our own school or from other schools, and provide a range of programmes and support systems to help everyone settle in confidently.
What to Expect
-
Induction Programme – Before the academic year begins, all new students take part in an induction programme to familiarise themselves with the school, meet staff, and get to know their peers.
-
Personalised Support – Each student is assigned a tutor and mentor who provide guidance on academic planning, goal-setting, and any personal concerns.
-
Curriculum Guidance – We help students choose the right courses to match their interests, abilities, and future aspirations.
-
Skills for Success – We help to support students with skills for success! Form time is used to assist and prepare students and provide guidance on independent study, time management, and effective learning strategies to prepare students for the increased demands of Sixth Form study.
-
Enrichment Opportunities – Students are encouraged to get involved in clubs, leadership roles, community projects, and trips, helping them build confidence and experience beyond the classroom.
Our focus is on creating a supportive, welcoming environment where every student can thrive academically, personally, and socially. The King’s Sixth Form is about more than grades – it’s about developing skills, independence, and resilience to prepare for life after Sixth Form.
